NEW DELHI, India (BNc) — Kyle Spencer Allen, 35, died Sunday, Feb. 17, on his return to his India where he had worked for nearly seven years.

Kyle became ill on a flight back to India and over the next day or two afterwards, his health worsened.

According to Larry Benderman, elder with the Stiversville congregation near Culleoka, Tenn., speculation is that he had a diabetic problem and his sugar level rose so high that he went into a coma. As a result, his organs shut down and a heart attack caused his death.

“We at Stiversville Church of Christ have supported Kyle and Joy for a number of years, and we were always amazed at their work when they came to report to us in person. Kyle will be missed and we ask for prayers for the whole family during this trying time. Maybe someday we can understand the bigger plan our heavenly Father has for the work in India. Most assuredly Kyle was and is, in his influence, a part in that plan,” Larry wrote to BNc.

Born Oct. 11, 1977, at Fort Hood, Tex., Kyle graduated from high school in Monticello, Ark., where he spent most of his younger years.

He attended Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., where he met his future wife Joy Miller. Both graduated with a degree in Bible and Missions.

At FHU, he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He received a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University.

For two years, they made their home in Columbia and were associated with West 7th Street congregation.

For the past six and one-half years their family made their home in India.

In addition to his wife Rebecca Joy Miller Allen of New Delhi, India, he is survived by his children, Cella, 8, Asha, 6, and Ephraim, 11 months, all of New Delhi, India; his parents Kathryn and Don Allen of Houston, Tex.; sister, Amy Allen (Daryl) Parsons of Houston; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ellen and Robin Miller of Columbia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joanna and Travis Kuhns of Columbia; niece Selene Kuhns of Columbia; nephews Kaden and Kylie Parsons of Houston; and other extended family.

The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of West 7th Street church Friday, Mar. 8, at 5:30 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. with Mike Kesler officiating.

A memorial service will also be held Saturday, Mar. 2 at the Jersey Village church in Houston, where his parents are members.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Allen Family Memorial Fund, c/o West 7th Street Church of Christ, 405 West 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
