Prisoners hear the gospel in Brazil through Bible correspondence courses

Brazilian prison

A “compact prison” in São Paulo state

SÃO JOÃO DA BOA VISTA, Brazil (BNc) — From this city in the eastern region of São Paulo state, inmates in four state penitentiaries are hearing the gospel of Christ.

José Domingos de Pádua, evangelist with the church in São João da Boa Vista, said that Bibles, correspondence courses, and DVDs have been sent to the state prisons in Marília, Serra Azul, Balbinos e Flórida Paulista.

In the Balbinos prison, baptisms have occurred thanks to the studies sent there.

José Domingos asked for prayers for the prison ministry that has developed, mainly through courses sent by mail.

He also offered to share with interested churches in Brazil how these prison ministry efforts began.

Randal and his wife Vicki have lived and worked in Brazil since Nov. 1984. They have three children, two daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. He likes to read novels in his back-porch hammock.

  1. Thank you Randal for these short, yet, informative windows into the world around us. Setting the captives free! Imagine that. Truly, our world needs Jesus. These windows also give us knowledge to pray for these ministries and whom to pray for. To God be the glory.

  2. Thanks, Stu, for your kind comments. We just touch the hem of the garment, but perhaps they permit us that window you mentioned to see the hand of God among us.

Sounds like a great idea. Buck Griffith sends NLBI lessons into the prisons.
    Take care,
