JoAnn Scruggs, ardent supporter of the work in northeastern Brazil, died Wednesday, July 22.
She participated in many evangelistic campaigns to Brazil and supported a school for underprivileged children.
She is survived by her husband Robert, two children, several grandchildren and a host of people whom she served durante her life, according to missionary David Ingram, Jr.
She battled cancer for several months and passed away in Forth Worth, Tex.
In 2007, the Brazilian school which she helped was renamed the JoAnn Scruggs Christian School.
“Obviously we are all saddened by JoAnn’s passing, but I do not know of anyone who served so tirelessly so many people for so long, who loved Brazil and her people more, and who now deserves this rest in glory,” Ingram said.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the school through the Northside church. in San Antonio, where the Scruggs family worshiped for 25 years.
Also, on the website, at the missions page is information and a video about the school in Fortaleza.
In her passing, JoAnn joins a daughter, Tina, who died several years ago and left behind three children.
