BY BRETT CHRISTENSEN (BNC) ─ A string of recent baptisms has been reported. On Friday, 20 January, Scott Heathcote was born again in Longford, Tasmania. He had been a regular visitor to a small assembly of disciples in that town. Now he’s a member.

Then on Saturday, 21 January, James Black was baptised into Christ in Yackandandah Lake in, northeast Victoria. James had been involved in various church groups for about 15 years, but started meeting with the Border church in Wodonga in 2020 because of their focus on biblical teaching.

Following studies about baptism, James decided to be immersed for the remission of his sins. About 15 members of the congregation were present to witness his confession of faith and new birth.

Early the following morning in Adelaide, Dan and Ian Cleasby were baptised. Both are sons of members at the congregation which meets in Prospect, one in his teens and the other in his 20s.

The following Saturday Darnel Pirere, also in his 20s, was baptised in Lysterfield Lake, east of Melbourne. His grandfather, Hakaria Pirere, baptised him.

Despite Satan’s best (or worst) efforts, people continue to be born again. Frank Griffin is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Papua New Guinea. After spending time with the Lord’s people when visiting Cairns over a period of almost six months, he decided to obey the gospel in Cairns. He is now getting to know the disciples in Port Morseby.

In Gosford, Taneisha Krause was baptised into Christ on the evening of Wednesday, 15 February, in front of her family and a few close friends, in the pool of Dan and Mel Mowday.

Further south, in Hobart Kylie Ward was immersed in the sea on a Tuesday night, having studied the scriptures for a while with Lindy Dow, who knows Kylie through her own son, Bradley Dow.
