BEDFORD, Tex. (BNC) by Willie A. Alvarenga — On Nov. 19, 2020, the Brown Trail School of Preaching lost a great man of God who dedicated 16 years to the training of gospel preachers. His name was Obed Rodriguez, a 2001 graduate of Brown Trail. After almost three weeks of battling Covid-19, Obed lost his fight and moved on to his eternal reward.

Brother Rodriguez dedicated 19 years of his life serving the Everman, Tex., church as their bilingual minister. He also served as director of the Everman Public Library. After his time with the Everman congregation, he then served one year as the new full-time Spanish minister for the Brown Street church in Waxahachie, TX.

Obed and I graduated together from the Brown Trail School of Preaching back in 2001. In 2004, he had a vital part in the establishment of the Spanish Department of the school. He taught 19 courses in the Spanish Department throughout the 16 years he served as instructor.

Obed was, and continues to be, loved by so many who studied under his feet. He was a great expositor of God’s Word, and a walking library. We will be forever thankful to God for his faithful service in God’s Kingdom.

Obed is survived by his wife, Victoria, who is currently hospitalized due to Covid-19. They both have one daughter, Laura.

Please keep the family in your prayers, as well as the school. Funeral arrangements are still pending.

Willie Alvarenga is Director & Instructor at Brown Trail School of Preaching Spanish Department.
