COTTONTOWN, Tenn. (BNc) — Elder Morgan Moore, 87, passed away July 5. He was born in Sumner County Mar. 25, 1924, to the late Loyd and Alice Weiss Moore.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mayberry Moore.
Morgan served as an elder with the Clearview church for 34 years. Je was a director of the Sumner County First Sunday Singings.
He is survived by his son, Mike (Jennifer) Moore, Sr.; grandchildren, Melanie (Jack) Hughes, Beau (Joanne) Moore, Mackenzie Moore; great grandchildren, Damian and Deacon Moore, Aidan, Avery and Austin Hughes, all of Lexington, S.C.; special friend, Christine Crafton of Cottontown.
Visitation is 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Fri., July 8, at the Clearview congregation’s building, and after 11 a.m., Saturday.
Funeral service is 1:00 p.m., Sat., July 9, at the Clearview church building, 470 Clearview Rd., Cottontown, with Lowell Harris and Michael Moore, Sr. officiating.
Entombment is at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers are Mike Swann, David Russell Cole, Kenneth Thompson, Tommy Crafton, Beau Moore, Mackenzie Moore, Ronnie Durrett, Jr., and Matt Bradley.
Honorary pallbearers are Roy Gambrell, Johnny Mayberry, Joe Frank Gillespie, James Martin Weiss, the deacons of the Clearview congregation and The Friday Night Singers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Standing Stone Church of Christ Building Fund in Monterey, Tenn. This mission effort was a favorite cause of Bro. Morgan.

Brother Moore also loved to sing. I attended many, many of the Friday Night Singings that take place year-round in Middle TN, and Brother Moore was always there. He will be greatly missed by many brethren. May his family be comforted.
