COLUMBIA, Tenn. (BNc) — On Sep. 4, at about six in the evening, brother William Woodson of Walker Country, Ala., former chairman of the Bible department at Freed-Hardeman University, first chair of the DLU Bible graduate program, and former minister at Granny White died.
The last year his health had gone down and the last two to three weeks he has been in the hospital. Jeanne and his family, Dan Winkler and Jeremiah Tatum were with him when he died. We appreciate how our friend Jeremiah has ministered to this family the last several years and more specifically the last few weeks.
Woodson leaves a pretty amazing legacy and will be missed by many in our great brotherhood. Arrangements are not complete at this time.
Tom Childers, friend of the Woodsons, said “Brother Woodson had many projects yet on both the front and back burners, but it is now his time to rest from such labors and it is our task to work a little harder and carry on. Please continue to remember the family in prayer as they grieve, and as they adjust to life as it will now be.”

Brother Woodson taught me Bible and Greek at Freed-Hardeman. I came to appreciate him greatly as a faithful Christian and a kind gentleman. He encouraged me, took time with me, got me through the first year of Greek, the hardest class I ever had. I drove a distance to see him in Michigan last year, just to be around him some more. I grieve along with his family and many others. I believe Jesus has welcomed him into His arms. terry pace
