Thomas Goracke is scheduled to depart Tuesday, 20, for Singapore, with his family, to begin service as Dean of Students at a ministry training institute.
Below is the text of a letter sent Sunday from Thomas.
The time is near for our departure to Singapore! We have been busy with all the necessary preparations and have finished up with several visits with supporting churches and brethren. We have one more meeting time with our overseeing church in Seagraves, Tex., tomorrow, Sunday the 18th.
We are scheduled to fly out of Lubbock at about 7:00 a.m., Tuesday the 20th to arrive in Singapore just after 12:00 a.m. on the 22nd, Singapore time.
We were blessed by the service of a Singapore brother and Charles Cook, the administrator for SIBI Singapore, to have our housing secured as early as June 1st. We will be staying with Singapore brethren until then.
We request your continued prayers as we make our final preparations in the next couple of days and for the blessing of safe travels all the way to Singapore. Upon arrival, I will send out a notice as soon as possible.
Thank you for your partnership and your encouragement in every way. Know of our love and continued prayers for you.
In service to Jesus and His Gospel,
Tom, Nancy, Jaydon & Shayla
The Gorackes returned January 2007 from serving as missionaries in China. They served in China on two separate tours for a total of two years and four months.
During their final tour in China they met with an elder from the Pasir Panjang church in Singapore who informed Thomas of their plans to begin a ministry training institute there in Singapore. This institute began operation November 2007.
The goal of this institute is to equip many preachers, teachers and ministers of the word of God from Asian countries to reach out with the gospel to all of the surrounding nations of Asia.
Together with the Pasir Panjang church, the Sunset International Bible Institute has invited both Charles Cook and Thomas to serve as the administrators of this institute. Thomas will serve as the Dean of Students.

Thomas emailed just now:
“I’m writing to you from Singapore! We arrived a little later then scheduled…. about 1:00am Singapore time, about 12:00 noon Central Time Zone. All went fairly well and we are safe and in good company and Good Hands. Thank you for your prayers in our behalf. It’s nearly 3:am now and we are going to try to sleep…. hope we can convince Jaydon and Shayla of such. More to come soon!”
