HENDERSON, Tenn. (BNC) — Stan Mitchell suffered a heart attack Friday, Feb. 15, on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University, where he serves as a Bible professor. He is in CCU in a Jackson hospital. UPDATE: Stan passed away Feb. 19.
At last word, Stan was sedated and doctors had lowered his body temperature. He will need a double bypass, according to reports.

Stan has preached since 1976, in Zimbabwe, California, Texas, and Tennessee. He serves as preacher for the Red Walnut Church of Christ in Bath Springs, TN. He is currently Professor of Bible at Freed-Hardeman University. He is married to the former Marjorie McCarthy, and has one daughter, Tracy Watts. He is the author of four books: The Wise Get Wiser, the Foolish More Foolish: The Book of Proverbs, Give the Winds a Mighty Voice: Our Worship in Song, and Equipping the Saints for Ministry. He has recently published another book, Will Our Faith Have Children: Developing Leadership in the Church for the Next Generation.

There is so much more work for Bro. Mitchell to accomplish. I hope God’s will is to allow him to remain here with us encouraging us as he has so often. We are praying for his recovery. The way will not be easy, but God always helps us overcome adversity. May he continue to help and bless Bro. Mitchell!
