OWATONNA, Minn. (BNC) — Gospel preacher Dan Mayfield was watching two-year-old Rush, one of his 11 grandchildren, as the child watched the movie, “A.D. The Bible Continues.”
“Rush sees Jesus on the cross, and says very seriously, ‘O my word … O my word. I love God. Jesus died,'” Dan wrote today on Facebook.
Rush then said, “He rose from the gravy.”
“How early do you teach children about Jesus?” Dan asked, obviously believing that saints should start very early as he saw the positive results of it in his grandson.
Dan shared the photo of Rush, above, as well, and gave BNC permission to share the episode with our readers.
Dan works with the Owatonna congregation.

From the gravy? Ive heard some funny ones, but that’s a new one for me! I remember our middle daughter telling us when she was about 6 that she wanted to get “bath-tized” so she could “get some of that crackers and juice.”

That reminds me of when I was a boy in the late 1950’s. Every time I heard the song “Low in the Grave He Lay”, I would think the chorus started out with “up from the gravy He arose”.
