SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines (BNc) by Michael Hildreth — The Promised Land School of Preaching officially launched June 22 in the heart of South-Central Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines.
It is the only preaching school located in the Province of South Cotabato.
The sole mission of the school is to train men to become effective preachers of the gospel and share the true faith of Jesus Christ with their Muslim, Catholic and denominational neighbors in the Philippines.
Six full-time students and two part-time students are enrolled in the school.
Among these students are some veteran preachers, who are working to grow in their knowledge of the word of God and enhance their ability to declare it. There are also new converts enrolled, who seek to increase in the knowledge of Jesus and share their faith with their family and friends.
The full-time students are Rodrigo Navarete, Roberto Manangan, Renato Nierves, Jonah Nierves, Nestor Facun, and John Rey Palma.
More students are anticipated for enrollment in October 2013.
Curriculum for the first semester of classes is:
- Life of Jesus
- Personal Evangelism
- Book of Acts
- Godhead 1
- Preacher’s Life and Works
- Homiletics 1
- New Testament Church
The four full-time instructors are Isaac Valdez, Samuel Facun, Moreno Marquez and Ariel Acha.
Michael Hildreth is serving as the coordinator of the school and a part-time instructor.
The school is overseen by the local congregation, the New Cuyapo church, Municipality of Tantangan, South Cotabato.
Promised Land School of Preaching is supported through the Sherman Drive Church of Christ, Denton, TX.
