ENOLA, Ark. (BNc) by Robert Swain — I was asked to be the speaker for an annual creek-side service for a small congregation where my friend Dickie Harris preaches.
The morning was hot and muggy and I was still weak from the bout of pneumonia I’d had the week before. I was still excited to be able to participate.
Approximately 60 people were there in lawn chairs, many of them from denominational churches in the county who were attracted to the idea of an old-timey preaching service down at the creek.
Dickie led some songs and I preached for about 30 minutes about the importance of baptism in our salvation. Six people were baptized that day in the creek.
From the Swains’ Gospel Opportunities newsletter, Nov. 2. The service occurred Sept. 2.
