DALTON, Ga. (BNc) — The elders of the Highland Church of Christ in Dalton, GA, who oversee Gospel Broadcasting Network (GBN), have announced Don Blackwell as the network’s new Executive Director, effective December 1, 2010. Brother Blackwell is well-recognized and respected in the brotherhood, not only for his soundness in the faith, but for his effective work with local congregations and as speaker for such media efforts as Truth for the World, World Video Bible School, and the Gospel Broadcasting Network. Currently, brother Blackwell appears in the segment, “Sixty Seconds about the Second Coming,” regularly seen on Good News Today.

Assisting brother Blackwell as Director of Personnel and Finance is brother Ralph Upton. Retired after 34 years in senior level management in the corporate world with Gold Kist, Inc., brother Upton brings to GBN a wealth of experience and expertise in finance and human resources.

Don Blackwell is a graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching. He has done local work in Bankston, AL, Statesville, NC, and North Charleston, SC. He served as Director of Truth for the World in Duluth, GA., from 2002 to 2006. A graduate of St. Leo College with an Associate degree, Don received his BA in Biblical Studies from Southern Christian University and his MA from Liberty University. Don and his wife Sheri have three children – daughters Macy and Lauren, and son, Brandon.

The Highland elders believe this new directorship will assist them in establishing a solid foundation upon which the network may expand its effectiveness and coverage in the years ahead.
