Montgomery, AL (BNC) Dr. Cecil May, Jr was honored with a 90th birthday celebration on Saturday afternoon, June 11, 2022. The University church of Christ fellowship hall was decorated beautifully with tables covered in blue tablecloths and floral arrangements. The food was catered and abundant for the many guests who came during the 2-4 o’clock hours.
Entering the celebration foyer guests were invited to sign a large birthday card for brother May. Additional gifts and cards were placed on the table for the honoree.
Family members attending the celebration along with Cecil and Janice May were Betty and Ivan Lozado from Houston, TX; Cecil III and Patty May from North Little Rock, AK; and Roslyn and Andy Miller from Orlando, FL. Another son, Richard and Jeanna Lynn May from Oklahoma, were unable to attend the affair. Several grandchildren also attended their grandfather’s celebration.
Dr. Cecil May, Jr continues to serve as Dean Emeritus of the V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies at Faulkner University, Montgomery, AL. Prior to this position he served as Dean for 20 years. He came to Faulkner after retiring as President of Magnolia Bible College in 1998, where he served in that position for 17 years.
The Magnolia Messenger continues to be a work brother May loves. He has been writing answers to Bible questions in the publication since 1980. He also writes, “Finally Brethren,” on the back page of the Gospel Advocate. Quarterly, brother May writes and publishes, “Preacher Talk,” which has wide coverage throughout the brotherhood.
Cecil May, Jr has two books in print, “Bible Questions and Answers,” which is a collection of questions from the Magnolia Messenger, and “The Providence of God.” He is currently writing several books. He says, “One on the Holy Spirit will soon be ready.”
