GENEVA, Alabama (BNc) — Wiregrass Christian Youth Camp, Chancellor, Alabama, has recorded another successful summer of camping.
Joel Ellis, President of the youth camp, states “With the assistance of 263 staff volunteers, we were privileged to host 684 young people at Camp Wiregrass this summer.” 604 of those campers won the highest coveted Bible Rosette award. During the eight weeks of camp, there were 16 baptisms and 62 prayer requests.
Camp Wiregrass, as it is lovingly referred to, is nestled around a former golf course near Chancellor, Alabama.
Work toward improving the camp is done throughout the year by volunteers. Among other improvements this year, the campers enjoyed two new lighted outdoor classrooms.
41 campers were able to experience the camp this summer because of generous scholarship donations. Churches, and friends of the camp, make donations each year assuring that any child who wants to attend camp may do so. Angie Braswell, secretary for the camp states, “We don’t turn a child away who wishes to come to camp and doesn’t have financial means.”
