MT JULIET, Tenn. (BNC) — This Nashville-area congregation registered nine baptisms during the month and continues with Bible studies and its ministries, according to one of the elders in a video made Apr. 26 to explain the closing of its facilities.
The announcement was made to explain the changes in response to the coronavirus lockdown. Public worship is suspended for the time being.
After much prayerful thought and consideration, the shepherds have decided it would be wisest for us to not gather together at our building tomorrow or Wednesday for worship. It is our prayer that this is a decision not made out of a fearful spirit, but one made out of love and of having a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Its worship services are being streamed live at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time.
More people are watching the online broadcast than were meeting physically before the shutting of the facilities, the elder said.
The tone of the announcement was one of faith and wisdom, not of fear.
The return of use of the physical facilites will be made “incrementally,” the elder said.
“There will be new guidelines, new processes, and cautious building uses,” he said.
He praised the congregation for continuing “to give liberally,” as well as for “checking on others to be sure they are safe and not in need.”
