MONTGOMERY, Alabama (BNc) — Jerry and Frances Davidson were honored at the Capital Prayer Breakfast, July 18, 2014, at the RSA Tower in Montgomery, Alabama. The breakfast is sponsored bi-monthly by Amridge University, also in Montgomery.
Brethren came from far and near to offer up prayers to God for thanksgiving, church leaders, families, city, state and national leaders, sick, bereaved, and shut-ins. Douglas Williams, brother of Frances, and Jimmie Benson, life-long friend, shared with those attending an overview of the Davidson’s lives.
The Davidsons were presented a lovely plaque by Dr. Michael Turner, President of Amridge University, which read, “With sincere appreciation for your encouraging leadership in the local church as an elder and evangelist; outstanding Christian service in mission fields around the world, especially in Guyana and the Caribbean; and in every good work, both by precept and example.”
Approximately 100 were in attendance at the 8:30 breakfast held on the 22nd floor of the RSA Tower overlooking beautiful Montgomery, Alabama and her state capitol. Among those attending who completely surprised the Davidsons, and filled their eyes with tears, were their sons, Jay Davidson from Oak Hill, Virginia, and Jeff, Melissa, Jill and Jeffrey Davidson from Huntsville, AL. Other family members attending with Douglas and Glenda Williams from Geneva, AL and Art Williams from Montgomery.
The Davidsons have been in full-time work with the Amerindians in Guyana for 25 years. Jerry serves as one of the elders for the Summerdale church of Christ in Summerdale, AL.
