Hasha adjustedby Michael E. Brooks

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (BNc) — Harvey Hasha of Muscle Shoals, Alabama died quietly Monday night, Sept. 16, in his home. His health had declined quickly after suffering a fall several weeks prior.  Harvey was a former contractor and owner of Triple H Bricks in Muscle Shoals.  He was a member and former deacon of the Highland Park Church of Christ in the city.

While serving as a deacon Harvey answered the challenge of the elders to visit Bangladesh and investigate the possibility of evangelism in that young Muslim nation. He made his first trip there in 1989 and continued to conduct annual campaigns for approximately 10 years, until advancing age and weakening health forced him to stop.

At Harvey’s instigation Highland Park purchased land near Khulna, Bangladesh in 1993 and began construction of the original building that became the campus of Khulna Bible College.  The College continues to operate, and has graduated 34 men to this point.

In 1991 Harvey expanded his and Highland Park’s efforts to Nepal, where he conducted seminars and gospel meetings for 6 years. The churches in both countries have benefited much from his zeal for the work and his love for the lost.  We mourn his passing, but rejoice with him for his faith and the crown promised to “those who have loved his appearing.”
