He served as minister of the church in Duffy, Ohio for 38 years and was actively involved in the family business Sounds Incredible. He also was a director and loved working for the WVa. Christian Youth Camp for over 40 years.

Rick Tincher, from the Mt. Vernon congregation said of Yost, “Jerry was a true friend to me. At many of the most difficult times in my life he was there by my side. He was a true soldier of the cross.”

“One of the best friends I will ever have…An encourager of the young, a comforter to the old and sick. To those who had lost their way in life, a patient and kind leader. Slow to anger, swift to forgive. A servant of God”, said Dan Kessinger, from the Dewey Avenue congregation.

Peter Ray Cole, from the Washington Street congregation said, “He impacted my life for the good tremendously.”

“Jerry was tempted to feel inadequate due to a lack of formal education. This godly man, though, touched innumerable lives. He, like Paul, needed no ‘epistle of commendation.’ The people he touched were that ‘epistle written in…hearts, known and read by all men’ (2 Cor. 3:1-2)”, said Andy Robison, Director for the West Virginia School of Preaching.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Yost; a step father, Earl Lough; a step sister, Loretta Rowand; and an infant nephew, James Andrew Yost .
