JONESBORO, Ark. (BNc) — E. Winston Burton, 88, of Jonesboro died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19, at his home. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1967, moving here from Dickson, Tennessee.

Burton was a member of the Southwest congregation. He graduated from Paragould High School in 1942; then received an AA degree from the Free-Hardeman College in 1944; received a BS degree from the Auburn University; graduate of Harding University 1961 with a master’s degree; Winston did graduate work at Auburn University, Harding University and Arkansas State University.

Burton ministered to churches in Alabama, Tennesse, Texas and Arkansas, working with the Southwest congregation in Jonesboro until his death.

Burton was preceded in death by his wife Revalee Hurd Burton; his parents, and one brother, Weldon Burton. Survivors include sons, Keith Burton of Livingston, Tex.; Phil Burton and wife Pam of Jonesboro, Ark.; daughter, Kay Moore and husband Wendell of Dickson, Tenn.; brothers, Leon Burton of Huntsville, Ala.; Terry Burton of Garland, Tex.; sister, Aletta Brummett of Paragould, Ark.; grandchildren, Rodney Burton, Sarah Spencer, Kristen Work, Jan Fields, Michael Fields, Bill Burton and Bart Burton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, Sept. 21, at the Southwest church building with Brother Jimmy Adcox, Richard Akins and Chris Harrell officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bill Burton, Bart Burton, Michael Fields, Tim Woodruff, Bob Holloway and Abby Jackson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the elders of Southwest congregation; Faith Builders Class at that congregation, Kiwanis Club and Dr. Anthony White. Visitation wil be from 9:00 AM Friday until service time.
