KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BNc) — Dr. David Lipe, former professor at Freed-Hardeman University, became the new director of East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions (ETSPM) effective April 30, 2012. With many years’ experience in both church and academic arenas, Dr. Lipe is highly qualified to direct ETSPM.

In his 45 years of preaching, Dr. Lipe has worked with congregations in Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. He has held over 400 gospel meetings, spoken on numerous lectureships and participated in foreign mission campaigns in at least five countries. During his last nine years at FHU he preached for the Bethel Springs congregation, and most recently worked with the Sycamore church in Cookeville, Tenn.

With degrees in Bible, apologetics and philosophy, Dr. Lipe brings a wealth of academic experience to ETSPM. At Freed-Hardeman University he served as a full-time professor of Bible and Philosophy(1990-2010) and director of the annual Bible lectureship. He continues as FHU’s lectureship director and an adjunct faculty member, and serves as adjunct instructor at Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver, Colo. He has participated in religious debates and written several books.

Dr. Lipe taught at ETSPM from 1984 to 1986. He and his wife Linda have three grown children and five grandchildren.

Since 1971, East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions has trained and prepared men to serve as preachers with local churches and on the mission field.
