ARLINGTON, Tex. (BNc) — World Bible Translation Center, a ministry of churches of Christ which produced the Easy to Read Version, “combined operations with” an evangelical ministry last year.
BNc became aware of the move in a note that appeared today at the foot of a Bible League International email:
After the summer 2011 merger, World Bible Translation Center became a ministry of Bible League International, a non-profit evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to providing Bibles through programs and partners, especially the local church, that evangelize and disciple people worldwide. Bible League International faithfully pursues God’s call to fulfill its goal that every person who wants a Bible they can read and understand can have one. We place the Bible with training so people around the world can understand Scripture, meet Jesus and place their faith in Him.
BNc found no information on the WBTC website, but this small note appeared on the BLI site’s Newsroom page:
In the Fall of 2011, Bible League combined operations with World Bible Translation Center, which shares BLI’s mission “to provide Scriptures and training worldwide, so that people prepared by the Holy Spirit will be brought into fellowship with Christ and His Church.”
World Bible Translation Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1973 in Arlington, Tex. BLI is based in Chicago, Ill.
Congregations which have supported WBTC as a ministry of churches of Christ should be aware of their changed status.
