Brown Trail moves high school grads toward maturity

Spiritual MaturityBEDFORD, Tex. (BNc) — Who hasn’t heard laments about how we’re losing our children to the world? A group of elders overseeing a school of preaching decided to do something about it.

In 2009 the Brown Trail School of Preaching established the “Moving Toward Spiritual Maturity” Program, designed to assist parents in their task of rearing children in the Lord.

As an extension of the Brown Trail Education Program, MTSM is a one-year, in-depth Biblical maturing study program designed solely for graduating high school seniors. Read more

Brown Trail hosts second Spanish lectureship

BEDFORD, Tex. (BNc) — The Brown Trail School of Preaching hosted its Second Annual Spanish Department Lectureship Nov. 12. Thanks to our heavenly Father, it was a great success.

We truly enjoyed a great attendance of approximately 200 people throughout the day.

The eight speakers, who are graduates of the Spanish Department at Brown Trail, did an excellent job at presenting the Word of God. This year’s central theme was, “Stand Up for Jesus.” Read more

Jerrel Rowden dies at 77

MCKINNEY, Tex. (BNc) - Long-time missionary and worker for French mission, Jerrel Rowden, passed away Nov. 24, at the age of 77. Jerrel is survived by his wife, Christiane, and two sons.

It is difficult to recount all the contributions that Jerrel and Christiane made to missions in the French-speaking world. Besides working with churches in Reims, France, and Québec City, Canada, they established a printing ministry which served the French-speaking world for over forty years. Read more

Thai preacher reports on flood crisis

BANGKOK, Thailand (BNc) — The most severe flooding in decades has hit Thailand. A humanitarian crisis looms over the major city of Bangkok, and outlying areas have suffered for weeks. The Thai government warns of the risk of water- and insect-borne diseases such as diarrhea, dengue fever, and malaria in the coming days and weeks.

Kim & Rebecca Voraritskul have been working for our Lord in northeastern Thailand for decades establishing congregations and training faithful servants to spread the gospel. American and Japanese churches feed disaster victims

ISHINOMAKI, Japan (BNc) – A group from the Mito and Park Avenue churches fed over 100 people housed in temporary shelters, following the earthquake and tsunami of March 11.

The group provided lunch outdoors Nov. 8. The goal was to serve a hot meal to these people and encourage them.

Temporary housing has been erected in various parts of the town. These are generally 2-3 rooms with a kitchen, bath, and toilet. They are fully furnished and are connected together in rows of about 8 apartments to each row. Read more

Linda woke and opened her eyes to see her breath in the cold air. The two or so inches of quilts that pinned her to the bed were covered in a thin layer of frost sparkling like diamonds in the brilliant morning sun that broke through the cracks in the walls.

She jumped to her feet on this cold November morning in Light, Ark., knowing that she would see the love of her life later that day.

11/11/11: Bible institute fasts and prays for 24 hours

GUWAHATI, India (BNc) — The above date, though it simply designates a day on the calendar, is unique in that there will not be another like it for a hundred years. Not only so, but it is taking place just ten days after the United Nations announced on Oct. 31 that the world population had reached 7,000,000,000 (seven billion) in just twelve years’ time.

Here in India at the Northeast Bible Institute the students and staff will fast and pray for twenty-four hours from breakfast on the morning of the 11th until breakfast on the 12th for the billions that have not heard. Read more
