Warren center publishes Everett Ferguson on apologetics

VIENNA, W.V. (BNc) – A brotherhood center for apologetics has released a book on second- and third-century apologists by Dr. Everett Ferguson.
The Warren Christian Apologetics Center (WCAC) released the book Thinking-Living-Dying: Early Apologists Speak To The 21st Century, July 15.
The book contains what second and third century writers “believed and defended regarding Christian living, moral questions, and intellectual challenges to Christian faith.”
According to WCAC, this is an offering of “unique apologetics material, not previously published.” Read more
Scott Gleaves named Faulkner Univ. Assistant Dean

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (BNc) – Dr. G. Scott Gleaves has been named Assistant Dean of the V. P. Black College of Biblical Studies of Faulkner University.
For four years, Scott was the preaching minister at Granny White church, Nashville, Tenn. His last Sunday at Granny White was July 17.
During the evening service, Dr. Gleaves was presented a Faulkner Eagle statue by Dr. Ernest Clevenger. The eagle had been presented to Clevenger when he was the academic dean in 1977. In the presentation Clevenger asked Gleaves to “take the eagle back home.” Read more

Church established through biblical debate in northeast India

BAGDOGRA, India (BNc) – A new congregation was established through a debate with a denominational preacher in the northeastern Indian state of West Bengel.
Missionary Jim Waldron reported today that two young men, Joseph Khati and Markus Kisku, were sent Aug., 2009, to Bagdogra as evangelists. They have since established four congregations.

Thomas David Mosley dies at 84

WHITE BLUFF, Tenn. (BNc) — Bro. Mosley, longtime Church of Christ minister, died peacefully June 25, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Union, S.C., he was the son of the late James Claude and Carrie Corinne Corzine Mosley. Mosley was a minister of the gospel who preached throughout Tenn., and surrounding states. He was the former minister of the White Bluff, West Dickson, Pond, and Clearview churches and formerly served in Shelbyville, Tenn. He held meetings from Canada to Florida. Read more
Tenn. elder Morgan Moore dies

COTTONTOWN, Tenn. (BNc) – Elder Morgan Moore, 87, passed away July 5. He was born in Sumner County Mar. 25, 1924, to the late Loyd and Alice Weiss Moore.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mayberry Moore.
Morgan served as an elder with the Clearview church for 34 years. Je was a director of the Sumner County First Sunday Singings. Read more

Virginia youth camp hosts record 91 campers

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (BNc) — A Virginia youth camp broke its record attendance last month with 91 campers.
The Purcellville congregation, with help from Alabama and Mississippi, conducted its fifth annual Purcellville Christian Youth Camp (PCYC) June 27-29.
The all-volunteer camp, co-directed by Joel Tinnel and Robbie Shiflett, is a community outreach of the Purcellville congregation.
Any community child, ages 4 through high school, may attend free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Read more
Church meets for the first time in Porirua

PORIRUA, New Zealand (BNc) – The Porirua church met on May 8 for its first worship service, with 78 people, many visiting Christians from surrounding areas.
For two Saturdays before the first meeting, with the help of a group from Freed-Hardeman, they conducted a campaign to put flyers in letter boxes and door-knock, saturating the closest neighborhoods. Approximately 18,500 homes were personally visited, covering the entire Porirua area. Ten Bible studies were set up, with eleven additional contacts to revisit. Read more
