MEMPHIS, Tenn. (BNc) — Elder Paul Goddard of the Park Avenue congregation reported today that they have now collected over US$90 thousand for the churches in Japan.

“We will be wiring it to Mito [the Japanese congregation] this week. Regions Bank has waved our fees for the transaction,” Paul said.

Everyone who has donated money through Park Avenue has or will receive a letter from Park for their tax records, he said.

All of the funds will be sent directly to Japan.

The congregation will continue to receive funds for the needy, after the initial amount is sent.

Donations may still be made, through information on the Park Avenue webpage for Japan, which also has updated information about the situation there.

The Park Avenue church is a long-time missions supporter of the work in Japan.
