MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (BNc) — Marie Turner DeHoff age 95 of Murfreesboro, Tenn., died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at Adams Place in Murfreesboro following an extended illness. A native of Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Dr. George W. DeHoff, Sr. who died Jan. 1, 1993 and her parents Edwin G. Turner and Cora Alice Lemon Turner, of Portsmouth, Ohio. The last of her generation of seven brothers and one sister, Mrs. DeHoff was the owner and operator of DeHoff Christian Bookstore, a business begun in 1939 by her late husband.

Funeral service will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brother Wayne Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by four children, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, being son George W. DeHoff, Jr, and wife Valerie Stone DeHoff of Murfreesboro; daughter Bonnie DeHoff Fakes and husband Ray Travis Fakes of Lebanon; son Dr. Paul Turner DeHoff, and wife Terry Lentz DeHoff, of Murfreesboro; and daughter Theresa Anne DeHoff of Franklin. Grandchildren include grandson Dr. George W. DeHoff, III and wife Cortney Hethcoat DeHoff of Birmingham, AL; grandson, Robert Stone DeHoff of Nashville; grandson David Alan DeHoff of Nashville; grandson Travis Ray Fakes of Lebanon,; granddaughter Laura Fakes Edwards, and husband, Gary Lynn Edwards of Johnson City; grandson, Paul Tray Fakes of Washington, D.C.; grandson Matthew Turner Fakes and wife Bethni Spears Fakes of Murfreesboro; granddaughter Bonnie Beth Fakes Holman, and husband Lucas Andrew Holman of Murfreesboro; granddaughters Michael Devon DeHoff and Ryan Lee DeHoff of Murfreesboro, grandsons Kevin Paul DeHoff and Mark Turner DeHoff of Murfreesboro; and great-granddaughter Aynelise Hannelore DeHoff of Murfreesboro.

She was a member of the Murfreesboro TN East Main Street Church of Christ, and the Col. Hardy Murfree Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a Past President of American Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Altrusa International and the Rutherford County Retired Teacher’s Association. She was also a member of the Tennessee Iris Society and the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. DeHoff has resided in Murfreesboro since 1945, after moving from Russellville, Ala. She received her B.A. from Magic Valley Christian College in Albion, Idaho, Masters of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University and taught in Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County School Systems. Active pallbearers are her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are elders and deacons of the East Main Street Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to the George and Marie DeHoff Memorial Scholarship Fund of Freed-Hardeman University of Henderson, TN. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
