MONTGOMERY, Ala. (BNc) — Bernice Cagle Johnson, 99, passed away August 5, 2010. She was the wife of Leonard Johnson, former Freed-Hardeman University Bible faculty member and co-founder of Faulkner University. She served as part of Faulkner’s first faculty. Bernice supported her husband as a college professor at Christian universities in Alabama, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, as well as the many congregations where he preached. Her life as wife, mother, and grandmother was spent serving and caring for her family and many others who enjoyed her hospitality.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Leak-Memory Chapel followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. A private graveside will be held after the service.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Johnson, and son David Johnson. She is survived by children Janice (Kenneth) Randolph, John (Hazel) Johnson, Marilyn (Frank) Terry, Richard (Judy) Johnson, and Linda Johnson, widow of David. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Modified from the Montgomery Advertiser.
