I have had situations where people (elders, preachers, members) who claimed to be following the old paths, and called themselves "faithful" had wrong understandings of the Bible's teaching and when I tried to point out their error, I was labeled the false teacher and accused of causing dischord in the congregation.
If we are going to follow our own desires and not the Bible, we may as well decide to do whatever it is we want to do because there is no difference.
Great article.

It would be interesting to know more about the changes. This whole accounts could just be sour grapes.

Let the lesson be learned. Change usually occurs slowly and incrementally. Honest Christians must see the patterns early, and ground themselves in God's Word. Change agents don't necessarily set out to change the church, but to harmlessly make small changes here and there, chip-chip-chipping away at the edges, sanding the corners, until the lines and nuances of the church become indistinguishable from our denominational neighbors. We must attempt to see where the small changes can lead, and address the ideas boldly, with love.

Randal,
I, for one, appreciate your stand with the Bible. It is very obvious to me observing the changes in the church that much "drifting" has occured in the past 50 years alone!
I agree with you and appreciate you trying to get things changed where you once worshipped, but got out when change back to the truth didn't appear going to happening.

Great article which really nails what's going on in the brotherhood! Anymore, I'm finding elders in the brotherhood who are not steeped in the Word of God, whose passion is not Christ , but their own glory. Their goal is increasing attendance by whatever means. Simply put, they've gone the way of the world.

When you see secularism creeping into our worship services in the form of musical instruments as well as women taking leadership roles, even serving the Lord's Supper, it's time to walk away and "shake the dust off your feet." They've rejected the Word and the Gospel.
