10,000 New Testaments printed for evangelism

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (BNc) – Missionary Jim Waldron has printed 10,000 New Testaments for free distribution as an evangelistic tool.
Ten thousand copies of the New Testament in the New King James Version have been printed in South India at a cost of only sixty cents each, he wrote in his Bulletin Briefs in Sept.
In spite of the low price, the little Testament (3.9″ x 5.4″) is well made, being stitched at the spine with perfect binding. It is in clear type on good quality paper. Read more

On Nov. 13-14, we had the pleasure here in Joao Pessoa to receive some of the children who participate in the Right Step Project in the city of Cajazeiras, Paraiba state (plus 10 adults, some of which were parents).

CANTON, Oh. (BNc) – An article appeared June 10 about the merger of the two largest congregations in Canton, Oh.
We have received numerous requests on how the merger has gone and the current status of the work in Canton.
What began as conversation many years ago, culminated in a meeting of the elders this past spring. After much discussion and prayer, it was decided that the Lord’s work could best be carried out by the uniting of these two fine congregations and so the process began. Read more
Old Mulkey celebrated its bicentennial

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. (BNc) — A celebration to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of Old Mulkey was held Saturday, Nov. 21, at Old Mulkey Meeting House State Historic Site.
“During the bicentennial observation we will be examining what happened at the historic service of Nov. 18, 1809, and the effects of that service,” said Sheila Rush, park manager. “We’ll take a look at excerpts from the minutes of the church dated 1798 to 1809 and sing period-accurate songs.”
Lynwood Montell, a noted historian and folklorist, led an interactive history activity, asking questions about the origin of Old Mulkey and it’s beginning as Mill Creek Church.

Faulkner locks down after threat

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (BNc) – Faulkner University locked down its campus yesterday, Dec. 3, after a threat appeared on Facebook, a social networking site on the Internet.
A parent who had gone to campus for an event wrote on Facebook that he was told a “student [had] threatened to shoot some people.” Read more
Brazil: Christian youth killed

RIBEIRÃO DAS NEVES, Brazil (BNc) – The 20-year-old son of a Brazilian Christian couple was allegedly murdered Sunday night, Nov. 30. Luiz Otavio was the son of José Luiz and Bete, long-time Christians, of the Neves congregation.
His funeral was slated for Tuesday morning.
Friends of the family have asked for prayers on their behalf.
Ribeirão das Neves is in the greater metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais.
Concerted evangelism effort begins in Loudoun County, VA

PURCELLVILLE, Va. (BNc) – The church of Christ in Purcellville, VA met Sunday evening, November 15, to kick off its new evangelism effort in Loudoun County, VA.
The town of Purcellville, population 5137, is located 52 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., near the West Virginia border, in an area considered to be a mission field.
Loudoun is the fastest growing county in Virginia and the fourth fastest growing county in the United States. It grew 71% from the period of 2000 to 2008. It has approximately 290,000 residents. Purcellville is one of 26 cities and towns in the county. Read more
