200 denominational preachers expected for lectures

MONROVIA, Liberia (BNc) – Over 200 denominational preachers are expected for lectures on the church in this African capital city.

Todd Clippard of the Burleson church, Hamilton, Ala., and Bill Burk of Seagoville, Tex., will make their eleventh and ninth trips to the West African nation of Ghana to work with a school of preaching and also conduct an evangelistic campaign. Read more

Minister to address U.S. conferences overseas

kachelmanJUDSONIA, Ark. (BNc) – Minister John Kachelman will keynote for two U.S. government humanitarian conferences in the Ukraine and Tajikistan and speak about the Lord’s church.

Kachelman, minister with the Judsonia church, will be the keynote speaker at the Small/Medium Transportation Program (SMTP) conference.  SMTP is funded by the U. S. Department of State Office of the Coordinator for U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia.

Kachelman will speak on the topic, “Who are the churches of Christ that care for Tajikistan?” Read more

Mac Deaver debates on nature of man

CHICAGO, Ill. (BNc) – Next week Mac Deaver debates a Baptist opponent on Calvinist doctrines.

A public debate will take place Apr. 27-30 in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg between brother Mac Deaver and Matthew Black of the Baptist Church.

The issue will center around the nature of man, addressing questions such as: Are we sinners from birth? Do we inherit a corrupt nature because of Adam’s sin? Do we have free will to obey the gospel? Read more

Biography: Preacher accused of spying for Hitler

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (BNc) – Preacher J.B. Gaither’s youngest daughter has published a biography his life and work.

Sandra Gaither Pitchford wrote J.B. Gaither, His Place in Time, a 408-page book packed with photos, sermons and articles of this “old-timey” preacher, as he delighted in referring to himself.

Gleaned from Gaither’s personal diaries kept for 50 years, the book, released Nov., 2008, details the abundant life and service from 1901 to his death in 1980. Read more
