GENEVA, Switzerland (BNc) On Sunday, Nov. 16, Esteban Ruiz, Angel Panzano, Andy Mychajlowycz and Mark Kee were appointed as elders by the church of Christ in Geneva, Switzerland.

In their worship, the local Christians thanked God that He had given them men qualified to serve as shepherds. On behalf of the congregation, Doyle Kee gave them their charge and explained their responsibilities. Then the whole congregation prayed for their new elders and committed themselves to follow their leadership.
The previous Sunday the four brethren had expressed their willingness to serve and had challenged the congregation to serve the Lord in unity and to work for the spread of the gospel.
During two years of preparation the congregation made a thorough study of New Testament teaching on the qualifications and work of elders.
The Geneva congregation has 80 members and an attendance of 100 on Sunday morning. It was established in 1970 by Doyle and Barbara Kee who have actively served the Lord there since. Through the years they have also participated in many evangelistic efforts in French-speaking countries in various parts of the world. The Geneva congregation is itself active in mission work and targets three countries each year.
Four languages are spoken in Switzerland: German, French, Italian and Rhaeto-Romanic. Geneva is in the French speaking area. There are also churches of Christ in Lausanne, Zurich, Bern, Basel, Lucern, Thun, Schaffhausen, and St. Gallen.
