BOWLING GREEN, Ky (BNc)- Two days after the Mount Pleasant church building burned, the Mt. Zion building was set on fire deliberately, investigators said.

The two building are about eight miles apart.

The early morning fire on Aug. 15 totally destroyed the historic building dating back to 1852. It’s the oldest church building in Kentucky still in use, according to

Tom Hall, minister of the Mount Pleasant congregation, received a threatening telephone call that other church buildings would be set fire.

Great Hays, wife to Gary who preaches with the Mt. Zion congregation, said there is a relationship between the two churches.

“There is concern that other churches will be burned,” Gary Hays told the Bowling Green  Daily News.
