Minister Clifford M. Smith passed away the morning of Aug. 15 at age 89 in Searcy, Ark.

cliffordsmith.pngClifford was born in Jacksonville, Ala., March 19, 1919.

He was a preacher for nearly 60 years and well known for his love of singing and song leading.

Clifford is survived by his wife Estelle and three children, seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

His funeral is Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Jacksonville, Ala., church.

Clifford worked over 22 years at Fort McClellan as supervisor and U.S. government employee before retiring to preach full-time. He left the Ironaton church near Talladega, Ala., to become the full-time preacher with the Arab, Ala., church.

He preached for several congregations in Alabama and Georgia.

In 2004 Clifford and Estelle moved to Harding Place near the campus of Harding University in Searcy, Ark. For the last four years of his life he worked, loved and served with fellow retired preachers and teachers.
